Parkview

Parkview is a well-established mental health recovery care home in the Hove area providing care for adults over the age of 18 years with enduring mental health issues.  There are 8 bedrooms but can accommodate up to 10 residents. The home provides both short and long term placements, with  a strong focus on re-enablement and recovery.  Most of our service users are preparing to move on to more independent living in the community.   We believe in the Recovery Model and work in partnership with residents to guide their own recovery journey.

The registered manager of Parkview is Mr Paul Locking and he is supported by a team of support staff.  Care staff are on duty 24 hours a day. There is also a team of ancillary staff who ensure Parkview is maintained to the very best standard of tidiness and cleanliness.

It is a requirement that a full assessment be made prior to a service user being admitted to Parkview to ensure that the placement is both satisfactory for the needs of the service user and that of the Care Providers. Parkview has a strong emphasis on rehabilitation. Prospective service users are invited to visit and spend the day here or even nights, before being admitted, so that they can decide if Parkview is right for them.

All service users take part in independent living activities and cookery classes to promote independence.  Service users are supported to do their own laundry, clean their own bedrooms and assist with daily chores around the home. Some of the younger service users go on to voluntary work, work experience and work placements.

Residents meetings are held monthly so that service users can plan the menu and activities for upcoming months.

There are many in house activities that service users can participate in, if they so wish.  These include cooking, baking, table tennis, quizzes, art therapy, flower arranging, gardening, bingo, using the computer and internet, BBQ’s and also outings to local attractions and further.  We also hold several parties throughout the year to make the most of our beautiful and serene garden.

Service users are encouraged to be fully involved in all aspects of their daily lives including care planning, medication, laundry, menu planning, cooking of meals and housekeeping.  When able to, service users will be supported to self-administer their own medication.

Smoking is not permitted in the home; however there is an external designated smoking area at the rear of the property.
