As well as offering long term care, we may be able to offer day care and respite, space permitting. In order to ensure that Gracelands is the right home for any prospective resident they, and any family or friends, will be invited to visit the home before being admitted.A comprehensive assessment is made of the person’s needs, with the input of the service user themselves, relatives and other health or social care professionals, and an initial care plan is agreed.

The manager of Gracelands is Mrs Susan Hoskins and she is supported by her team of senior carers, care and support staff.  Care staff are on duty 24 hours a day. There is also a team of ancillary staff who ensure Gracelands is maintained to the very best standard of tidiness and cleanliness.

Entertainment/Recreation

We recognise that each of us has different interests. Residents are encouraged to go out (with supervision) if appropriate or to sit in the garden. We endeavour to provide social activities that meet the needs of the individual.

Whatever activities are provided, you will have a choice in what you participate in. (If there is any charge, you will be notified in advance and your permission sought). We understand that some people prefer a one-to-one activity and a chance to talk, rather than participate in group activities. We do our best to meet the resident’s needs in this respect. There is a published programme of events and residents’ views are sought on what they would like to be provided.

Activities include music and performance; film shows; sing-along; touch therapy; exercises; ball games; reminiscence therapy; questions and answers; around the world;  and gardening;. Staff also help residents by reading letters and newspapers, chatting to them and accompanying them on outings to the shops or day trip
